This project was generated with the help of ChatGPT and focused on creating a unique, playful logo for a pet grooming business. The goal was to design a logo that captured the friendly, welcoming nature of the brand while utilising AI tools in Adobe Illustrator to streamline the process.

AI in Design

With AI shaping the future of design and various industries, using it effectively is a great way to stay ahead of the curve. Since finishing college, I’ve fully embraced the benefits of AI, learning more from it than I ever did in traditional education. AI has proven to be an invaluable tool for feedback, idea generation, font and colour choices, and learning new techniques. One of the best aspects of AI is how it can guide you step-by-step through processes without the hassle of sitting through long tutorial videos with ads. However, while AI is incredibly powerful, it’s still important to seek human feedback as there are subtle details AI might miss unless you specifically prompt it.

AI Graphics in Adobe Tools

Adobe has recently integrated its own AI features into both Photoshop and Illustrator, which has been a game-changer, especially for those of us who don’t enjoy drawing. By simply describing what vector graphic you need, the AI can create it for you, giving multiple design options. The more context and detail you provide, the better the results. If none of the initial options suit your needs, you can adjust the detail level using a slider above the AI input box.

Logo Design Process

For this project, I wanted to create a logo featuring both a dog and a cat, as they are the most common pets taken to grooming shops. I used Adobe Illustrator’s AI graphics tool to generate the illustrations. I provided the AI with a clear description of the desired design and positioning, and it generated a ready-to-use vector graphic for both animals. This saved me time and ensured a polished look.

I also used the AI to create paw prints for the logo. After designing a single paw print that I was satisfied with, I duplicated it and positioned the prints at an angle to give the effect of a dog walking across the logo. Grouping and duplicating the prints helped maintain consistency throughout the design. In retrospect, I think using simpler scissors for the AI-generated graphic would have resulted in a cleaner overall design.

This project demonstrated the effective use of AI in design, allowing me to create a logo that balanced creativity with efficiency. By combining AI’s capabilities with my design experience, I was able to produce a playful, engaging logo that fits the branding of a pet grooming business.
